Home System Installation

Floors:

For Direct to Concrete:

  • Apply the under screed directly to the concrete with an appropriate adhesive.

  • Before a further Concrete application ensure a perimeter strip is encased around the perimeter overlapping the top. This way any Skirting board or Plasterboard from the adjoining wall has a flanking barrier from vibration / impact noise.

For a Carpet Installation:

  • Apply a Perimeter strip surrounding all applicable areas.

  • Then apply a Mass loaded vinyl up to the perimeter ensuring all panels / tiles / rolls are laid at staggered joints. Cover all joints with a high tack tape.

  • Then apply the carpet grips over the perimeter strips.

  • Finish with a carpet of your choosing.

For a Laminate or Vinyl Finish:

  • Apply a Mass loaded vinyl leaving a gap around the perimeter of 2 to 5 mm.

  • Fill the perimeter with an air-tight bond or sealant.

  • Then apply a minimum of 6mm Ply / OSB or MDF board over the mass loaded vinyl, using an appropriate bond / adhesive and matching the perimeter of the mass loaded vinyl. (Ensure the boards are applied at staggered joints, cover all joints with a high tack tape.

  • Then apply the laminate or vinyl chosen in the appropriate method suggested by the manufacturer.

Walls:

For Timber walls:

  • A framing network has to be lined with Isolation strips facing all adjacent walls, floor and ceiling. Leaving a minimum 10mm gap from the wall chosen for treatment.

  • The insulation will consist of an Acoustic Mineral Wool between the joist of the frame.

  • Then a Clip and channel system will be applied between 600mm and horizontally 1200mm.

  • An Acoustic Plasterboard is then applied to the clip and channel system ensuring a gap of 2 to 5 mm around the perimeter. Ensure the panels are applied in staggered joints. Seal joints with a high Tack Tape.

  • Seal the perimeter with an Acoustic Sealant appropriate to the project.

  • Apply a self-adhesive acoustic membrane to the plasterboard ensuring the joints are staggered between the layers.

  • A second layer of Acoustic Plasterboard is then applied ensuring the screws are imbedded into the channel systems, again, leaving a 2 to 5 mm gap around the perimeter. Ensure the panels are applied in staggered joints. Seal joints with a high Tack Tape.

  • Seal the perimeter with an Acoustic Sealant appropriate to the project.

  • Finish with a plaster skim or paint.

*All clip and channel system applications depend on project measurements and weights.

Ceilings:

  • Ensure the joists are strengthened to the capability needed for the structure

  • Insert Acoustic Mineral wool between joists and add thin wiring to ensure the product stays in place.

    • Fill the cavity between 75 and 80 percent ensuring a gap between wool and ceiling.

    • Then a Clip and channel system that will then be applied must have a minimum gap of 100mm from the adjacent wall.

    • The clip system should then create a gridded framework at 400cm width ways and 800mm length ways.

    • The channels should then run perpendicular to the clips overlapping by 200mm.

    • Ensure all clips and channels are attached into the shoulder channels, securing the joint.

    • Then attach your first layer of Acoustic Plasterboard to the clip and channels.

    • Remember this layer mustn’t be in direct contact with adjacent surfaces.

    • Ensure the panels are applied in staggered joints.

    • Finish with a plaster skim
